Opening of Jaka Ivančič’s Photography Exhibition: Salt Is the Memory of the Sea
On Wednesday, 17 June 2026, at 20:00, the Arkade Bernardin open-air gallery will host the opening of Jaka Ivančič’s photography exhibition “Salt Is the Memory of the Sea”.
The exhibition places salt at the centre as a trace of space, time and the sea, while opening a sensitive reflection on the cultural, natural and working heritage of the coastal landscape. Jaka Ivančič’s photographic works are presented in the setting of the Arkade Bernardin, where the images enter into direct dialogue with the sea, the salt pans and the historical layers of the place.
The opening will be accompanied by a musical programme. Pianist Denis Horvat will perform, while DJ Benjamin Shock will present the composition Fleur de Sel, created in collaboration with Zavod Abakkum. The programme will also include an excerpt from the composition Solinarka by Brane Zorman, Irena Pivka and Maja Bjelica, produced by Cona Institute and the Muzofil Association.
The event is organised by the Portorož Tourist Association in cooperation with the Municipality of Piran, the public company Okolje Piran, St. Bernardin Resort Portorož, Soline d.o.o. and the Anbot Piran Society.
