News

As part of the Season Walks programme, we invite you on Thursday, 4 June 2026, at 18:00 to the sound walk Pod(hod)by Kalu [Luka Uršič], taking place in the Ajdovščina underpass. This edition continues into the evening opening of the artist’s solo exhibition The Gift of Failure at the International Centre of Graphic Arts.

Ajdovščina Underpass, Ljubljana

The sound walk Pod(hod) focuses on Ljubljana’s underpasses as overlooked urban spaces in which suppressed stories, margins and silences emerge. Through real-time sound capture and processing, Luka Uršič transforms everyday noises, footsteps and echoes of the Ajdovščina underpass into an immersive listening experience. The walk opens a space for listening to the invisible and unheard realities of the city, placing the visitor in relation to space as a living, multilayered organism.

Built on the site of a former Emona cemetery, the Ajdovščina underpass carries numerous historical layers. Walking through it becomes a movement between different temporalities of the city — between memory and forgetting, proximity and exclusion.

After the walk, you are warmly invited to the opening of the exhibition The Gift of Failure, opening at 19:30 at the International Centre of Graphic Arts at Tivoli Mansion. In the exhibition, Luka Uršič explores failure as a possibility for transformation, repair and a renewed understanding of artistic practice through new graphic and intervention-based works.

The Gift of Failure

Exhibition opening: Thursday, 4 June 2026, at 19:30
International Centre of Graphic Arts, Tivoli Mansion

Failure as a point of departure for potential future success is today a key part of the artistic process. What might elsewhere be understood as an error or anomaly can become an expressive value and a space of freedom in art. With new works produced this year in the MGLC Print Studio, Luka Uršič explores the potential of his artistic practice as a reparative mechanism.

Through screenprinting interventions on the unsuccessful and discarded Polaroid photographs by others, the artist returns to the source of failure and symbolically takes on the blame and responsibility for failed actions. In this way, he confronts his own and others’ unease, while simultaneously attempting to approach the liberating possibility of redemptive correction and improvement.

Curator of the exhibition: Yasmín Martín Vodopivec

The exhibition will be on view until 30 August 2026.
