Steklenik

Gallery for sound, bioacoustics, and art

The Steklenik gallery for sound, bioacoustics, and art, addresses works that, through the sonic exploration of nature and the environment, connect artistic and scientific practices and investigate the fields of bioacoustics, sound ecology, and sound art. Together with our artists, we create a connecting space for the conception, research, and experience of sound-based artistic works and nature. The greenhouse as a venue is positioned within a broader framework of curated spaces, which, in addition to providing suitable conditions for the growth, study, and appreciation of botanical organisms, offers a unique context for experiencing various forms of sound art.

The program of Steklenik Gallery ran from its founding in 2018 until 2022 in collaboration with the Botanical Garden of the University of Ljubljana, hosted in the Tivoli greenhouse.

In 2022, when the venue closed, we began collaborating with various cultural and scientific institutions: Center for Urban Culture Kino Šiška, Institute Museum and Galleries of the City of Ljubljana (MG+MSUM, Cukrarna), Gallery Kresija, International Graphic Arts Center Ljubljana, Cultural and Educational Association Kibla, Botanical Garden Sežana, and others.

The program of Steklenik Gallery is supported by the City of Ljubljana, Department of Culture, and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia, and is partially co-financed by the European Union through the Creative Europe program.
