Dr. Fon & Dr. Vrenko: The Sound Microscope

Cultural education

The Sound Microscope workshop is designed for children who want to explore sounds that usually remain unheard. Participants first learn basic principles of sound transmission and then test them through practical listening exercises and collaborative activities.

The mentors introduce both mechanical and digital versions of the sound microscope and demonstrate how contact microphones work. Participants build a simple mechanical device for amplifying quiet sounds and use it to discover hidden sonic details in their surroundings.
