PROJECTS

In 2021, we founded the TO)pot festival of radical soundwalks, which each year focuses on acoustic ecology through walking as an artistic practice and brings together artists, theorists and the curious public in the form of soundwalks, lectures, sound events and workshops.

In 2018, we founded the gallery for sound, bioacoustics and art, Steklenik, with the aim of addressing works that connect artistic and scientific practices through sound research of nature and the environment. The gallery program, in cooperation with the UL Botanical Garden, was hosted in the Tivoli greenhouse until 2022, later in various national cultural and scientific institutions in Slovenia, such as: Kino Šiška, Museum and Galleries of the City of Ljubljana (MG+MSUM, Cukrarna, Kresija Gallery), MGLC Ljubljana, Kibla, Sežana Botanical Garden, etc.

In 2008, CONA created the radioCona platform for the production and promotion of radio art and sound art with the aim of exploring new concepts of exhibiting works of art. Another long-term project that developed from 2009 to 2020 is ZVO.ČI.TI so.und.ing DUO, a musical series of electroacoustic performative sound events that premiered works created in collaboration between Slovenian and international artists.

PARTNERSHIP PROJECTS

The Central European Network for Sonic Ecologies (CENSE), cofounded by Cona, is an informal network of individuals and organisations as emerging network to fill the need of fostering more perceptive and conscious thinking and solutions. With addressing developments in the social and cultural fields of Central Europe (and beyond) related not only to sound art, eco musicology, and sound per se CENSE’s focuses on deep environmental and social changes.

VITAL – Art | Environment | Participation (2022 – 2024) creates innovative artistic ecosystems that respect the environment, and is co-financed by the European Commission, CREA and Cross Sectoral Standard action and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia.

konS ≡ Platform for Contemporary Investigative Art (2018 – 2023) is a project chosen on the public opencall for the selection of the operations “Network of Investigative Art and Culture Centres”. The investment is co-financed by the Republic of Slovenia and by the European Regional Development Fund.

Acoustic Common (2019 – 2022) is an emerging network of live environmental streams drawing attention to the unique sounds of particular places across Europe and beyond and is co-financed by Creative Europe and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia.

In 2018, we participated in the Founding Congress of CENSE (Central European Network for Sonic Ecologies) as co-founders of the new network for sonic ecology of Central Europe.
